The new release brings the DPX/Cineon Quicktime components upto date, working on Intel/PPC, 10.5 and Quicktime 7.5.
It includes a Spotlight and Quicklook plugin. This set is specifically designed to view and work with DPX and Cineon images straight from the Finder.
WARNING: These components are old and PPC only! They work on OS X 1.3 and might work partially on OS X 1.4
The two components allow you open DPX and Cineon files using Quicktime. This means you can use the Quicktime Player to open and view images in DPX or Cineon format. On OSX the Finder will use the components to display a thumbnail image in the 'file info' window and in Finder windows using the 'column' view. The Quicktime Player Open File Dialog correctly recognizes the files by its filename extension 'dpx' or 'cin'.
DPX and Cineon are image file formats designed to capture the full dynamic range of motion picture film negative. Mostly these files have a 10bit pixel depth using logarithmic scale to distribute samples/steps on the grayscale from black to white in such a way that there are more samples used for the dark range.
The current version will open the files as they are. During loading they are converted to an 8bit lineair format at this time. There are no additional conversions.

You can use these two scripts as droplets to drop a folder or selection of files or from the scripts menu and operate on the active Finder Window. The scripts will only add a file type to files matching the extension, '.cin' for Cineon type 'CIN ' and '.dpx' for DPX type 'DPX '. (type is including the extra space!)
You can place these scripts anywhere you like.
